About Instrumentation Workshop:

It is the task of instrumentation engineers to research, install, test and maintain instruments that are used in process industry. With the help of automation techniques, they formulate ways to test and maintain these systems. the prime focus is to ensure that the processes operate efficiently and safely. This lab prepares students who seek to enter this stream by providing them with intricate knowledge to manage and test instruments. This lab covers the various tools and instruments for testing, manufacturing and measurement purposes. Students explore the functionality of various tools used for manufacturing and testing like pliers, strippers, screw drives, crimpers, cutter etc. Various testing equipment’s like CRO, LCR meter, analog and digital multimeter, IC tester are also covered in this lab. Students also learn about PCB fabrication in this lab. Soldering and desoldering are also introduced to the students in this lab.

Major Equipment:

  1.  Analog and digital multimerters.
  2. Frequency meter.
  3. LCR meter.
  4. Cathode ray oscilloscope.
  5. Signal generator.
  6. Signal sources.
  7. Integrated circuit tester.
  8. Drill machine.
  9. Soldering and desoldering kit.
  10. Various hand tools like cutter, pliers, screw drivers etc.

List of Experiments

  1. Use of various hand tools for manufacturing and testing  e.g. pliers, cutter, crimpers, stripper,   screw driver etc.
  2. Familiarization , use and practice of measuring instruments for testing and measurement  e.g  Analog and Digital multimeter, CRO, frequency meter  ,signal generator , signal sources, LCR  meter and  IC tester.
  3. Use of various chemicals used in instrumentation workshop and safety precautions to be observed.
